My phone used to flash while ringing. It stopped doing it on its own. How do I turn it back on? My iPhone is a few years old. I don’t know if the LEDs will change during an update and I don’t have the audio/visual that the help column suggests

The setting you should have on iOS 16 is at Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > LED Flash for Alerts. I have an iPhone 8 with iOS 16 and it is there. You will find that the LED only flashes when the phone is locked.
If it no longer flashes try taking a photo with the flash to see if it has failed.
