Unable to change color after adding text to a photo.

After updating to iOS 18.0.1 on my iPhone 14, I have a photo editing issue. After adding text to my photo, the pop up to make changes to the text shows up and I can change the text size and alignment but after I select the color option, it closes. So, I’m unable to change the color of the text.

How to resolve photo editing problems on iPhone XS? An action-icon bar and resultant big colour palette always sits obstructing on top of the photos I want to edit.
