Migration Assistant New Mac

Got a new macbook air (2024) and trying to use migration from macbook pro (2018). My new mac has less storage than my old one but the apple worker said i can use phone storage (2 TB) on my new macbook instead of buying a higher number GB mac. But now when trying to do migration it doesn’t let me transfer all my information. is there a way to transfer phone storage to my new macbook prior to migration… orrr what should i do?

Not sure what was meant by 'phone storage' but I assume that means iCloud (e.g., if you have an Apple One Premier subscription, that comes with 2 TB of storage space on iCloud). You will not be able to use Migration Assistant to transfer data to iCloud. Instead, you'd need to manually move some of your data from your old MacBook Pro to your iCloud account then delete it from the old Mac before migrating, or set the old Mac to store your Desktop and Documents on iCloud, then perform the migration (after it all syncs).
