Remove documents and desktop from iCloud

I recently sold my Mac. I now only use an iPad and iPhone. I cannot seem to delete the Desktop and Documents file from my iCloud. Everytime I delete these two folders in my Files app they immediately reappear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How to delete Desktop and Document folders from iCloud Drive? Need help desperately! I enabled, more of curiosity, the feature Store Documents and Desktop files on iCloud and as didn't like the idea anymore I reverted back to keep the folders and files on my Mac. The problem is that now the two empty folders CANNOT be deleted from iCloud. I delete them and within a second are back in iCloud... No idea what to do, the Sync is off but cant kill the beasts...

You should have turned Desktop and Documents off and everything else associated with iCloud before wiping you Mac and selling it. You are going to have to take to Apple.
