I continue to get this following message"OpticalUpdaterfld22498698159 will damage your computer."
"The file was down loaded on an unknown date."
choices are to click OK or SHOW IN FINDER/ box is already checked for Report malware to Apple to protect other users

In every case I have seen there are multiple files that will need to be deleted or you will soon see a different app that will damage your computer. If you do or you want to prevent it, post the 3 screenshots I have suggested.

I suspect you have installed some malware on your Mac which is causing the message. Please navigate to www.malwarebytes.com and download the free version of Malwarebytes and let it scan your system. If my hunch is correct the malware will be removed and the message should stop.
If you don't want to install MalwareBytes, you can post the screenshots of the files in the 3 folders below. Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder, and paste each location in there. Don't forget the "~" character in the last one.

~/Library/LaunchAgents
Adware. Malwarebytes, as RK said, should be able to find and remove it.

this warning won’t allow me to download anything. But FYI, I was able to locate the culprits in system logs and remove it.
