How do I remove Google Maps App on my iPhone XR?

I have read previous answer posted in 2021 and it did not work.

I Do Not want to use Google Maps

The icon is removed but when you want to use the original installed maps , it won’t let you bypass Google !! All was well up to a week ago. I deleted my history. I shut down my phone. Google Maps will not go away !!
