Not able to enetr the password. keeps saying it is wrong

Even if you are certain you are entering the correct password, If you forgot your Mac login password - Apple Support describes what to do.

Check that Mac's Caps Lock key. It is possible for its LED and / or the ⇧ indicator in the password entry field to be incorrect. Press it (once) to toggle its state.

Also, try using another keyboard in case the main keyboard is bad.
