Markup Tool after updating to ios 18 is messed up.

It is no longer possible to control the transparency of the outline and the fill color separately, what a mess.

Highlighting tool also not working. Doesn’t mark at all, just moves the image. Not fixed in iOS 18.1 or 18.1.1

Is this the answer from Apple? It makes the Markup function worthless not being able to change the color of the text. It won’t show up on where you’re trying to place the text.

It’s awful. The font color option chart appears for a split second (if at all) and does not stay long enough to make changes. Markup is hit or miss on changing the font also… mostly miss. I used to use this tool daily for work and now it’s useless to me. Yet to find a solution or another program. Changing the font size has also proved difficult, but I’ve been able to do it about 50% of the time which is better than font and color, unable to change 80% and 100% respectively. I hope Apple addresses this soon. It’s a shame one of the most expensive phones on the market is unable to perform simple routine tasks and APPLE staff appear to not care. Perhaps if a feature they do use daily was removed or disabled they would be a little more understanding and more motivated to find a solution. I’ve had iPhones since day one but shopping around now.

I’m having the same problem for months now. Highly suggest everyone experiencing this:

search for similar threads in apple discussions and post to them.

fill out and file an Apple feedback report

call apple support, insist on speaking with photos team support member and make them see it and file it

if you have social media post the issue to apple there, that they are killing the graphics and photos design and editing tools that built Apple into what it is today.

Okay, at least for the issue of not being able to draw with the highlighting tool there is a solution, or should say function. At the end of the palette of highlighting tools tap the … , enabling a menu. Enable the function, “draw with finger”. Magic!
