Sequoia Messages: “Syncing with iCloud Paused”

My wife’s Mac running macOS 15.0.1 can’t finish syncing Messages from iCloud:

This is after a setting her account on that computer up for the first time. It’s not a problem on her iPhone.

She has a few years of Messages history, which I would like to make sure fully synchronizes to her MacBook Pro. How do I make that happen?

The pause is done to preserve battery. One way to resume the synchronization is to plug the Mac into power.

I’ve seen the pause occur with iCloud Photos (I do not use iCloud for Messages). In Photos, there’s a place to tap “Resume sync” (or similar wording). I don’t see a similar button in your screenshot.

There may well be a setting you can adjust in either Messages or possibly in the battery settings.
