How to mirror 2017 iMac to Projector via HDMI?

Using a 2017 iMac with Photo Mechanic App. Would like to mirror to a projector with an HDMI input. (sorry not more info on the projector).

Is a USB 3 to HDMI cable the best connection? Or is there a better connection route?

Then go to Apple>Systems Settings>Display>+
