Accidental message deletion???

Ok so after the IOS 18 update everything was fine until I open up my messages and notice that me and my close friends messages had been deleted and now it only shows present day messages and messages from May of this year. Apple please tell me how to fix this because this hasn’t happened before when I updated my phone it started
