apple pencil 2 not working after ios 18
After updating to iOS 18, my Apple Pencil 2 intermittently stops working while writing or drawing, causing breaks. I'm using an iPad Air 5th generation.

Had the same issue with Pencil 2 and iPad Air 4th gen after iOS 18 update.
Pencil would appear to pair with the device, but would not charge and would not register taps on device. Talked to support, they collected all sorts of logs and had me go into the store to get a replacement. Brand new replacement out of box exhibited the same behavior. When that same pencil was then used with a display iPad it was unable to pair. They bring out a second new in box pencil, same thing. Either two new pencils in a row were defective in the same way, or semi-pairing with my iPad left the pencils in a state where they were no longer functional.
Resolution was that, by chance, one of the testing gen 2 pencils they had at the store WOULD pair with my device, so they gave me that one.
