How can I reset Mac's password if locked out?

So I haven’t gotten on my computer in a while and we are getting ready to move so I was going to log in and make sure it’s up to date before I pack it up. I tried to log in because I could not use my Touch ID because it had gotten unplugged and now I can not remember my password. I have now been locked out for an hour and every time I enter the wrong password, it locks me out for longer. My question is how can I reset my password? I have watched YouTube videos and internet searches and nothing has helped. Please help!!!
