Impossible to open video file because of Quarantine system

In Seqoia 15.0.1 I'm unable to open a mp4 file from my drone, because of Apple's quarantine system. It says verifying for a while., after which it says it can't and I can't open the file!!!

So now I have to shut down the quarantine system!?

Just delete the quarantine on the file. Copy and paste the following into terminal and leave a space after quarantine.

sudo xattr -d com.apple.quarantine

Then drag the MP4 file into the terminal and hit return. sudo will ask for admin password. When you enter it, you won’t see anything echoed to the screen.

what is set to open MP4 files? that may be the problem.

The wording " quarantine " seems to indicate a Third Party Security Software installed and used on this computer

Safely open apps on your Mac

Third Party Security Software

There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation.

The Operating System resides in a Sealed and Read Only Volume that cannot be opened by the User nor by Third Party Applications.

The Only thing this Antivirus software is protecting is the Bank Account of the Developers and for zero return to the User aside from the problems this software creates.

Security. Built right in

Mac app security enhancements

The Built in Security  is all that is required to protect the computer.

Thanks, I was using  xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine but that only works once. Maybe your method stays in action. I'm using Quicktime! Quite strange that these files don't open at once.

Funny enough, quickview does show the videos at once, so what is even the point of checking these files then in quicktime, while quickview instantly shows them. But that's a different topic I guess..

That warning is meant for applications. I have no idea why it thinks your video file is an application.

The quarantine flag is not a system, it’s just a flag. I think every download gets quarantined.

Permanently change the app used to open all files of a particular type

  1. On your Mac, click  in the Dock to open a Finder window.
  2. Select a file, then choose File > Get Info.
  3. You can also Control-click the file, then choose Get Info.
  4. In the Info window, click  next to “Open with.”
  5. Click the pop-up menu, choose an app, then click Change All.
  6. Note: Don’t click Change All if you only want the specific file you selected to open with that app.
