If you mean you hear a ring when you call it that does not mean it it is online; the ring sound is generated by the carrier, and all it means is that the phone number is valid. You would still hear a ring if the phone was off; the call would eventually go to voicemail. How do you know iMessages are being delivered to the phone, specifically, unless you have no other devices that share your Apple ID. Likewise for Viber, which is a store and forward messaging service.

If you enabled Find My Network before the phone was lost then the phone can still be tracked via crowdsourcing. Try replicating the walk and watch Find My as you go with another iPhone.
