On IPhone and in Wallet App. Issues with adding a card.

I checked with my bank and they said the debit card was good for Apple Pay. I followed the Add process in Wallet and when I get to the last step I get the error message “The card is already added”. But it isn’t as it is not visible in the wallet with other items. I can not use it as it doesn’t show not appear and I have tried doing this several times. Can someone please advise??
