Creating A CSV File in Numbers to Import Into Outlook Contacts on An Imac

Have created and edited some 500 or so contacts into a numbers spreadsheet in a CSV format - names -addresses -email phone -etc - The goal is to import these details in a 365 outlook contacts on a new iMac - When imported it copies over the names but all other details are in a the notes area not in the correct fields within the outlook contacts ? Any suggestions please ?

You need to make sure the header row (the first row) contains the correct labels for the columns, so that the app know how to import the data.

Sometimes it can be difficult to ascertain the exact headers, for example, some applications may require 'First Name', others may use 'Firstname'. Similarly, with addresses, there may be localized issues where, for example, Contacts requires 'Zip Code' even though the field may be known as 'Postal Code' or some such in your region.

Even more complicated is how it handles multiple addresses. For example, Work vs. Home addresses. Maybe 'Address' isn't sufficient to allow the app to interpret the data.

The best approach is to export some existing contacts. This will give you the correct header fields the application expects. You can apply that to your .csv file and should have better luck matching the data to the contacts.
