While on a physical call with an esim, can I browse the internet at the same time

The mobile carrier I use in the Caribbean does not support me being on a phone call and browsing the internet at the same time. So for eg. let’s say I am on the phone with my bank, and I need to access their app or my account through Safari, it would not work if I am using data, I’d have to be in a Wi-Fi area. This is not the case with a physical sim. This is making me reluctant to upgrade to the eSIM only models. I just need to know if anyone globally has the same issue with their carriers and is this because of the technical workings (vOIP) of how an eSIM actually works.
