Can't turn off sound on Clock app

Since updating to Sequoia 15.0.1 my clock app has gone weird. I usually set Timers to 30 min for exercise and at the end of that time the alarm goes off, a notification appears which can be used to silence the alarm and the Clock app can be quit.

Now there is no notification, and there is no way to switch off alarm. Have tried 'Stop Playing', 'Cancel' and even quitting the app but it just carries on.

The only way I can stop it is to go into Control Centre settings and switch sound output to 'Default' which seems to send the sound in System Settings through AirBeamTV Audio (whatever that is) but if I switch back to any of the other Output options then the sound is still playing there for ever and ever! It's still there now... please how can I make the app work, or just get rid of it?

Thanks for trying, but as I said, the Notifications had stopped so these options were not available, and Clock does not show in the notification list anyway. Yes, my Sound settings were set correctly but I was having to change them to something that didn't exist to stop the alert noise and there is nothing in my system that could possibly use AirBeamTV which is presumably why this muted or stopped the sound as there was nothing then for the sound to play through – you could switch it to anything else in my setup (not dissimilar to what you describe) and still hear it.

ANYWAY, I am pleased to report that the problem has now completely gone away, as mysteriously as it arrived!! Everything is back as it was (except for a slight oddity with two alerts being able to play simultaneously). I can only assume that this was something to do with the Sequoia update but that switching the Mac off and on since then has somehow put it right? So beware when updating.

Thanks once again for your input.

When you hover over the notification you can click Options and Stop to stop the alarm or Repeat to reset it to run again.

Instead of using the menu bar Control Center go instead to Settings -> Sounds and ensure your default audio device is set properly. i.e. internal sound on Mac, or external sound, etc. I have my speakers going through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 so the Focusrite is my default output sound. Input would be a microphone such as a webCAM.

It sounds like you have some airplay default audio set to AirBeamTV which must be a Television or Soundbar.
