how to show free versus paid content

i've had apple tv for many years which i view on Sony BRAVIA.

i go to the Apple TV HOME button as shown below and i get a chart based kind of display with various icons.

i am constantly trying to find decent content and i am frequently ending up in Amazon Prime or some other service that asks me to pay for content.

i don't want to click on an icon thinking i can view the title only to find out it is paid content. i also don't really want to have to filter through icons that show paid content.

i just want to try to rationally sort through what is available with my apple TV subscription.

can i get rid of some so rhe content that is paid or otherwise segregate it somewhere?

or do i have to try to see the tiny Apple logo that says TV or whatever in order to know it is free?

is there some simpler way to use this? i feel like it is deliberately all mashed up so i run into paid content when i don't want to.

THANKS

With only the Apple TV+ subscription, you will want to use the Apple TV+ tab you see there. For users who have subscriptions to other streaming services, such as Paramount+ or Starz, they would use the Home tab to be able to access them. You can sign up for those subscriptions there too if you want. You also use the Home tab to find new movies that you can rent/buy, similar to what is available On Demand from other Cable/Satellite providers.

Again, just for the free content provided with your Apple TV+ subscription, stick to the Apple TV+ tab you see in the sidebar and you can watch all the content there without any additional charge or subscription.

  • Apple TV is the app to view all content from many sources, some of which you will have to pay depending on the source.
  • Apple TV+ is a subscription service, just like Hulu or Paramount, where the content they provide is free with the subscription..
  • After you launch the Apple TV app, you can choose to view only the Apple TV+ content. That way everything you see there is included for free with the Apple TV+ subscription.

All of the screenshots that have been provided are after you click the Apple TV icon. Once you are there choose the Apple TV+ menu in the sidebar that is shown on the first screenshot you provided. This will show all the content you can watch for free with your Apple TV+ subscription. In that first screenshot you provided, it shows you have the Home menu selected which shows content that you may need to purchase to rent/own or need a different subscription to watch.

Stick with using the Apple TV+ menu after opening the Apple TV app and you won't need to worry about seeing any content that you will need to pay anything extra to watch.

i meant to post these pics.

i go to HOME button here. i get to the big scroll area and click on APPLE TV. the i see all this junk jumbled together seemingly randomly.

when i need to back out because it turns out it's a paid show i have to hit HOME button a bunch of times and then i sometimes hit this HOME button.

how do i see just free shows?! lots of stuff in here turns out to be paid and then i seem to end up in some APP like amazon prime where i don't want to be...

hi jim. appreciate this.

but when i click on the apple TV remote home button to start it i get the apple TV interface with all the apps.

i click on the APPLE TV app.

/lots/ of the shows shown in this app are paid shows. this is the problem. i scroll through it and click on some that seems interesting and sometimes it is free but sometimes it is paid. then it asks me how i want to pay for it and i have to back out.

sometimes it is an amazon prime show and it asks how i want to sign up.

i want an option to just show free content in apple TV app?

i'm confused.

there is "Apple TV" icon on the image i just posted. this is where i am sent when i click on the HOME icon on the apple TV remote.

then there is a "Home" text in the image someone posted earlier in the pull-down menu at the top.

then there is the "Apple TV+" icon just below this Home text in the pulldown.

so i have two "Home" locations (one on the remote that takes me >here< and one on the pull down that seems to take me somewhere else.

then i have an Apple TV icon.

then i have an Apple TV+ icon.

what is what?

what is only showing free content?(!)

i don't even know what i am paying apple for by being subscribed at this point.
