Tried following suggestions here but no-one states on which device to go through all the steps. I tried getting to all the steps via the iPhone 16 and Mac with NO success. Can't find the lock/unlock feature.

I may have missed something, but to the best of my knowledge it's never been possible to unlock a Mac using an iPhone, at least not without third-party software. An Apple Watch can do it, yes, but not an iPhone.

Sorry! I made a mistake. I meant unlock my imac with iWatch! It used to do it until I downloaded the new Apple IOS. I tried following the steps mentioned in previous posts via my iphone and imac but can't seem to get to the part where I check the unlocking features.

Just to make sure, run through all the steps in this setup document:
Unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support
In my experience, though, unlocking a Mac with an Apple Watch is erratic at best. Some of that may be due to my Mac having to use an old version of macOS, but I've seen not-infrequent reports of unlocking being sporadic, so you may find that it works at times but not others.
