no keyboard attached and a key is stuck?
i've removed the wired keyboard and disabled bluetooth and wifi, the only indication is the terminal is flickering like the return key and down are both held down.

What’s the context?
Just within Terminal.app?
Or are other UI elements also showing an indication of a stuck key?
If it’s just Terminal.app malfunctioning, it could conceivably be some script running.
Tried rebooting the iMac?
If an Intel iMac, tried the SMC reset?
its highlighting files to try renaming them
Test a different keyboard and mouse.
A stuck mouse button can also bring up the menu and/or highlight a file for renaming.
Press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down, then restart it again normally.
