I have a health condition which means I can't type well/quickly enough to make notes on my calls for work. Is there a way to record and provide a transcript of calls I make for free? Thank you.

Currently there is not a free option that will do that. On the Apple page detailing iOS 18 features, they do say that is coming, but without a specific data:
Phone. Record and transcribe a live call directly from the Phone app.23 You can also search call history more easily, dial smarter, and switch SIM cards seamlessly.
Other than that the only options are some apps in the App Store, but those are not free and most also require a subscription.

Note also that in many places, recording a telephone call is either illegal or has specific notification requirements about letting the person on the other end of the call know what you’re doing.
