iPod 4th generation from OS X to Windows 10?

I've been using a 4th generation iPod Shuffle for podcasts for years. I updated it on a 2012 MacBook Pro with iTunes. My MacBook died. I now use an M1 Air (14.6.1) with the Apple Podcasts app. I can only get the iPod to play one podcast at a time (then it repeats the same podcast) after synching with the Air, even though I have downloaded and saved several podcasts to the Air. I have access to a Windows 10 machine with iTunes. Can I simply connect the Mac-formatted iPod to iTunes on Windows 10? I have no problem if the iPod is reformatted to Windows and have to reload my podcasts, but I would be devastated to 'brick' the iPod and render it useless. Please be nice. Budget is an issue and my podcasts important. Thanks for any clarity.
