My Bluetooth headphones won't connect to my iMac

I have recently received an iMac that I purchased. It works fine accept for one issue (so far):

I have a pair of Bose blue tooth headphones. The headphones will connect with my Macbook

Pro runing Sequoia and my Mac Mini, also running sequoia. I have had both my Macbook Pro

and my Mini running at the same time and the headphones have connected with both of them

without trouble. BUT; this evening the headphones would not connect to my new iMac.

The bluetooth on the iMac is on

The keyboard and mouse for the iMac connect via blue tooth. The system preference panel

shows the keyboard and mouse connections and searching for 'Nearby Devices'. The headphones

are turned on and should connect to the iMac but don't.

What am I missing here? Or what else might be wrong:

IS There a limit to how many blue tooth devices can connect?

The headphones do connect to the Mini when it is also running.

I guess I will also try some Googling.

Thank you for time and attention:

JK

many bluetooth headsets and speakers like to auto connect to a known device within range

you can't pair a headset/speaker with a new device if it is connected to another device at the given time

so disconnect the headset (don't forget the headset just disconnect it or term turn off bluetooth on the other devices) and put the headset into pairing/ discovery mode and connect it to the imac

if you don't know how to put it into pairing mode then this is a good place to start

Connecting a Bluetooth device - Bose QuietComfort Headphones

I figured this out and was able to get the headphones to connect to my new iMac:

I shut down the Mini I had running so there was nowhere else for the headphones

to connect. The iMac discovered the headphones and made a place for them and

they connected. But I also remember that there is a plan B for the headphones:

They come with a connection cable that can be used to bypass blue tooth or where

there is no blue tooth to connect to.

Thank you to anyone who took the time to read my sad story

It has a happy ending

Best

JK
