I have a 10 page pdf file but it is not searchable. I need to use the text here. How can I do this OCR process for free on any of the three iPhone, iPad or MacBook? Right now, there is an option to take screenshots of each page and scan the text from the photos with the iPhone, but it takes longer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Something that I've done, but not for things that are not 10 pages long, is to convert the pdf to a jpg (one way is to load the pdf into Preview and Export it as jpg.) Then I can open the jpg in Preview, and the text in the image can be copied as text and pasted into Pages or TextEdit or Word. Weird but true…
