Adding related name

Why does the ‘related name’ appear as Manager, Assistant or Spouse, and not the required description of an actual relative? What have I done wrong?

The description label for related name in the Contacts app (on iPhone) is editable by clicking on it. You can choose between all the available options, or create your own custom label. Once used labels are also selectable for other contacts, so you don’t have to create a custom label twice, per field type. For me, the default label for related names is “mother”; I always assumed that this is so for everyone, although I never had a chance to check that. Other fields also have the option to add a custom label, these would also be remembered, per field type.
