Did Apple stop making MacBook Pro with TouchBar?

I love this feature and am shopping for a new MacBook but can't seem to find any that offer the Touch Bar. I wont buy one if it doesn't offer it. I'd rather find an old one that offers it. I use the touch bar all the time. I wish they offered it in some models or as an upgrade. Why introduce it and get users hooked then not offer it years later when customers are starting to look at purchasing again? Huge bummer Apple.

The 2019/2020 13" and 15" MacBook Pros were the last models with Touch Bar. Basically they got dropped the same time Apple went from 13"/15" to 14"/16" screens as part of that redesign.

That's not quite accurate. The last Intel MBP to have the Touch Bar was the 16" 2019 MBP, while the last Apple Silicon MBP (and the last Mac, period) to have the Touch Bar was the 13" M2 MBP.

Background:

The change to 16" screens predated the change from Intel chips to Apple Silicon chips. Both the 15" 2019 Intel MBP and the 16" 2019 Intel MBP have a Touch Bar. The 15" model has a keyboard with the infamous "butterfly switch" design, whereas the 16" model has a Magic Keyboard with a more traditional scissor-switch design.

When Apple switched from Intel chips to Apple Silicon chips, they replaced

  • Low-end 13" Intel MBPs with 13" M1 MBPs.
  • High-end 13" Intel MBPs with 14" M1 {Pro/Max} MBPs.
  • 16" Intel MBPs with 16" M1 {Pro/Max} MBPs.

Only the 13" Apple Silicon MBPs got the Touch Bar. When Apple came out with M3-family MBPs, they put plain M3 chips into a variant of the new 14" chassis that has only two Thunderbolt ports. This was an upgrade vs. the old 13" chassis in several respects – but it also was the death of the Touch Bar.

Apple no longer makes Mac notebooks with Touch Bars.

The most recent Macs to have it were the MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) and MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020). These have 'base' chips (not Pro or Max chips) and are very similar to MacBook Airs with the same chips. Note that both of these notebooks support only a single external display, and that neither has a MagSafe 3 port.

Currently, there are a few Certified Refurbished 13" M2 MacBook Pros in the online U.S. Apple Store. Note that the selection in the Certified Refurbished store is "catch of the day" – so one day you might see something which you like, and on another day, you might see nothing.
