This is not correct. The "charger" is actually in the iPhone and it automatically controls the amount of current flowing to the battery.
By "charger" we're talking about the adapter that plugs into the wall (also called a "power adapter"). Higher wattage chargers will charge a phone faster, but they also cause more heat in the phone, and heat causes battery degradation.

Once again, you are wrong. A 45W charger or adapter or whatever you want to call it will NOT charge the phone any faster than a 30W adapter.
Another example.......My 85W charger or adapter will NOT charge my phone any faster than my 30W adapter.

I'm sorry you misunderstood my reply, Bob, but I am not posting "incorrect information". I never said a 45w charger will charge faster than a 30w charger. I said that generally, faster wattage charges charge faster but create more heat. For example, a 20w charger will charge a phone faster than a 5w charger.
My original response to the OP's question, for your reference:
Generally speaking, the higher wattage chargers will cause more degradation to the battery health over time. So if it's an overnight charger, go with lower wattage.
30W would be optimum. 45W or higher is fine, but it won't charge the phone any faster than the 30W adapter.

This is not true. You do not understand how the battery is charged in an iPhone.
