Purpose of RJ Port on iMac Power Cord
There’s an RJ port on the module that the power cord plugs into on the new iMac. What’s it used for?

To connect your Mac to an available Ethernet port. If you have a nearby Ethernet jack you could use this in lieu of a WiFi connection.
That is the RJ-45 port that can be used to connect the 24" iMac to your local network via an Ethernet cable.
FWIW, it is a $30 option for the $1299 iMac but included in the $1499 & $1699 models.
Thank you
