Can AirTag notify me when my Pet is home?

Can the airtag function as a doorbell for pets? Notify when home for my outdoor cat?

Beeping AirTag on cat collar Hi I am new to using AirTags. I have put an AirTag on my cat collar to help track her. I have turned off “Notify when left behind” setting in the Find My app as I will be coming and going from home to go to work etc, and don’t want that notification. And I have also set my home address as a trusted location. Will that AirTag beep if the cat is left at home for an extended period and separated from my iPhone? Eg, at work for the day, or going away for a week or two on holiday? The cat will be at home indoors.

How do AirTags track pets out of the range of home WiFi? I have 3 AirTags for my cats. I have used an AirTag on their collars but they aren’t tracking them other than in the home. How do they work?

Not really. At best, when the AirTag/Cat gets within Bluetooth range of your iPhone (assuming your at home with the phone), you can "find it" with the Find My app on your iPhone. However, it will not alert you.
