Wallpaper sizing Sonoma Macbook Air M3

Having finally persuaded a friend to buy a Mac by saying they are SO intuitive and using friendly they cannot even get the wallpaper to change in a size that fits the screen. My friend has some time to return the new machine and now intend to do that because a basic feature like wallpaper does not work. The mac wallpapers don't fit the screen! This is so basic. I cannot see not fix on a similar question and no reply from apple support!

How to fix this (settings only)

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Search "Change the wallpaper"
  3. Beside the wallpaper name, there is something like an aspect ratio option.
  4. (example) The following options are Fill Screen, Fit to Screen, Stretch to Fill Screen, and Center.

If this doesn't work, do the following:

  1. Look for a wallpaper on the internet.
  2. Follow the previous steps.
  3. If it still doesn't work, just ignore the wallpaper.

Went in to the Apple shop today and explained the problem … the answer the new live wallpapers (Scottish castle under landscape) show the last imagine of the live screensavers. So it looks like it’s in the wrong ratio but you need to let the screen saver play through.
