How do I create a desktop shortcut for iTunes?

I just bought a brand new gaming laptop, Stealth from MSi (Dell). I cannot figure out how to add the iTunes Icon to my desktop. I have tried searching for it in the start menu but when I right click the app the only options given to me are "run as administrator", "pin/unpin from start", "pin/unpin from taskbar", "app settings", and "uninstall". I cannot find the "create shortcut" option no matter what I do or where I look for it.

The very first question is have you installed iTunes? Usually, installing iTunes onto your computer will create a desktop shortcut. (note, for the desktop, not the Taskbar).

If the desktop shortcut is not present, do the following (and note that my steps are very slightly different to tt2's instruction):

    1. click on the Windows Start button and under the list of installed programmes, go to the iTunes folder (which is on the Start menu)
    2. tap the iTunes folder icon to open the folder. The menu options in there should be About iTunes and iTunes
    3. right-click the iTunes option, which opens a sub-menu, which should have:
      1. Unpin from Start (if it is installed)
      2. More >
      3. Uninstall
    4. tap the More > option. Options on this menu will be:
      1. Pin to Taskbar
      2. Run as Administrator
      3. Open File Location
    5. select the Open File Location, which will open the folder with a shortcut to the programme in it (and probably the About iTunes shortcut)
    6. right-click the iTunes shortcut and select Create Shortcut from the context menu. You may see a message telling you that it cannot create a shortcut there, do you want to place it on the desktop instead. The answer is yes, you do
    7. Done

Alternatively, once you know where the iTunes programme is located (usually C:/Program Files/iTunes/iTunes - and its file Type will be Application), you can simply:

  1. right-click the desktop in the desktop area (i.e. not in a window or over an existing icon) and a pop-up menu appears
  2. on that menu select New
  3. that opens the sub-menu, on which you will see Folder and Shortcut. Select Shortcut, which will create a shortcut on the desktop and open the browse option that allows you to search for and select the programme that you want to use
  4. navigate to the folder and select it
  5. click Next (where it should give the shortcut the iTunes title. If not, overtype it and click Finish

I am not given that option when I follow your directions. Which I feel is exactly what I said in my post.

This is literally the problem.

The ONLY options given, no matter where I look up the app, are "open" which opens the app, "run as administrator", Unpin/Pin from start and taskbar, "app settings" which literally opens the app in my settings, "rate and review", "share, and "uninstall".

There is no "open file location" at all.
