Are they Bluetooth headphones or wired headphones? iPhone 12 does not have a headphone jack. So if they are wired headphones, you need a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone adapter, which Apple sells. If they are Bluetooth, you have to put them in pairing mode, per the manufacturers directions to pair them with your iPhone.
