Does using built-in speaker have a long-term effect on the MacBook Pro display?

Hi!

I just got new external monitor for my MacBook Pro and I intend to use it as my main display (single display). Generally, I always listen to music while working (about 8 hours per day).

Is there any problem or long-term effects on the built-in display if I continuously listen via built-in speakers in clamshell mode? Have any of you guys ever face this issue?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.0

No worries!

Using your MacBook Pro’s built-in speakers in clamshell mode (with the lid closed) won’t harm the display long-term. Apple designs their MacBooks to handle sound output safely, even in clamshell mode.

Just make sure your MacBook isn’t overheating since sound vibrations aren't an issue, but excess heat could be. Use a cooling pad or ensure good ventilation when it's closed for extended periods.

You'll be fine enjoying your music while working!
