Issue with Apple Pencil: Letters Connecting While Writing on iPad Pro 12.9 (2022)
Dear Apple Community,
I am experiencing an issue with my Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro 12.9 (2022). When I write, the letters unexpectedly connect to one another, which wasn’t the case before. Here are the steps I have already taken to try to resolve this:
1. Replaced Apple Pencil Tip – I replaced the tip of my Apple Pencil, but this did not solve the issue.
2. Restarted iPad – I have restarted the iPad multiple times.
3. Removed Screen Protectors – I had both a tempered glass screen protector and a “Paperlike” screen protector on the iPad. Both have been removed, but the issue persists. It’s worth noting that I used both protectors for about a month without any problems until now.
4. Reconnected Apple Pencil – I have re-paired the Apple Pencil multiple times, including forgetting it in the Bluetooth settings, but this hasn’t resolved the issue.
5. Tested with Another Apple Pencil – I have tried using a different Apple Pencil, and the issue remains the same, so the problem does not appear to be with the Apple Pencil itself.
6. iPadOS Updated – My iPad is running iPadOS 18.0.1, so the software is up to date.
7. Issue Across Apps – This issue occurs not only in GoodNotes, but also in the Apple Notes app.
8. Contacted Apple Support – I have contacted Apple Support, and they plan to follow up with me. They ran diagnostics on my iPad, and everything appeared fine. However, I am currently in the middle of my exam week, so the timing of this issue is less than ideal. Hence, I am posting here in case anyone has insight into the cause or a potential solution for this issue.
The issue started about a week ago without any obvious cause. I would greatly appreciate any advice on further steps or potential solutions. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
