24' inch cinema display cannot connect to lenovo ideapad s340

Hi,

I have a 24' apple cinema display and want to connect to my Lenovo Ideapad S340.

Cinema display works perfectly (still) with 17'macbook pro & brand new Ipad Pro 12'

but cannot detect via settings on Ideapad at all.

Purchased a StarTech.com USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter - 4K 60Hz USB 3.1 Type-C to Mini DP Adapter - Type-C to Mini DP Converter (CDP2MDP) plugged into laptop, no joy, was then informed type c port on laptop doesnt support traffic re cinema display. However The HDMI slot next to it does. As i have linked my laptop to a LG Smart tv via that slot before.

Then researched & purchased another adaptor which assured me it would work(Hmmm lol). Make:-  HDMI To Mini DisplayPort Converter Adapter Cable 4K X 2K HDMI etc etc. And guess what...didn't work....please no smart answers saying you should've purchased apple blah blah...the cost is a factor obvs....

Have updated drivers etc still no joy.

Any ideas???
