How do I get back to the home screen

I finally upgraded to a newer iPhone from my iPhone 6, and I am getting used to some quirks associated with no home button. How do I get back to the home screen from any the other screen?

As an aside, Apple’s decision to have people half swipe and then fully swipe apps off a phone is very annoying. Although I suppose I can see that if you want keep your apps open and switch back-and-forth between them.

To return to the Home Screen on your iPhone 16 Pro (without a home button), just swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen. This gesture replaces the old home button function, and once you get the hang of it, it’ll become second nature!

And yes, for app switching, swipe up partially and hold until you see the app cards. Then swipe up on each card to close the app fully if needed.

Thanks. I tried that and it does work. I noticed that I have to swipe up all the way from other screens to get back to the Home Screen.

Otherwise, if I only swipe up partially, I will see app cards, as you call them. This is likely because of the “feature” of swiping up halfway to switch between apps.

So, I must swipe up all the way to get back to the Home Screen. Still, lot of work for my thumb. It is what it is, I suppose.
