MacBook Pro Screen Dims to Half Brightness When Unplugged, Even with Dim Setting Off

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my MacBook Pro (macOS Sequoia Version 15.0.1) where the display brightness automatically dims to about half whenever I unplug the charger.

I've already disabled the "Slightly dim the display on battery" option in settings, so it seems like the brightness should stay the same on battery power, but it doesn’t.

Has anyone else experienced this or know a fix? Any advice would be appreciated!

When was the last time you restarted the laptop?

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in safe mode.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode will often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to do disk repair, clear caches and other housekeeping and disables acceleration and third-party mods. When you're in safe boot, the machine won’t be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Does the same thing happen while in Safe mode?

You can exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally.
