Why is my Apple trade-in still in progress?

when I follow the original link sent to me in August it still says that my trade in is in progress. But now it is the end of October. I make a point of contacting Apple regularly to tell them that they haven’t sent me the kit. I’ve spoken with at least four people in support, one person in sales, and I even visited the local Apple Store. Except for the store, where they weren’t able to help, all the others were going to take care of it. Still, nothing happens. I’m tired of trying to make this work. Each time I speak with someone they waste my time collecting information—lots of time. Lots of information. They say that the order number and my Apple ID are not enough but it seems that however much information they collect they don’t really know what they are doing.

We do not have access to your account or details in order to check this out for you.

You may need to follow whichever instructions Apple sent in their trade-in email.

Apple usually send the trade-in kit close to the time they send out the new purchase. Else: If you chose to take the trade-in to a store, the trade-in kit would be available there. The email they sent would have the details.

(If needed: You can search for eMails from Apple near the time of purchase.)

A trade-in product generally has to reach Apple within a time-limit, and to be evaluated, in order for your purchase to be completed.

I understand you need a trade-in kit with a box etc. to complete the process.

Have you tried online to request a new trade-in kit ?

As Apple users, like yourself, we can not guess just where you are up to in the trade-in process, and no-one here has access to your account or details.

Seems the process generally takes 2 to 3 weeks once you mail in or drop off your device.

A trade-in estimate is valid for 14 days after you receive your new device.

Apple Support's online video explains all the trade-in steps in the whole process:

In order to proceed with the trade in I need a trade-in kit, which is a box, a label and a couple of sticky pieces to seal the box. I have not received a trade-in kit. When I log in and check the status of the trade-in, it appears that everything is going well. The trade-in is still in progress. Nevertheless, they have not yet gotten around to sending me a trade-in kit. My original title might have been clearer on this point, but to be perfectly clear, my problem is that even after speaking with 6+ people at Apple I still have not been sent a trade in kit. There is no good reason for this to bother me. The trade-in value was deducted from the purchase I made, so I’m okay waiting. Only I’m not really.
