Does moving Photos to iCloud delete them from my Mac?

Hi

I just subscribed to iCloud+ as I was starting to lack storage space on my Mac, and thought of moving my pictures into it.

I got really surprised when I went in storage to see what space was already freed.

I only have 70+ Gb of pictures, but storage now shows 140 Gb, and iCloud takes 90 Gb of space.

Is that just a visual bug, or a real thing. I also thought iCloud wasn't taking space on my Mac, but it apparently seems.

Also, System Data seems like its in an infinite loading.

Do moving pictures to iCloud automatically deletes it from my Mac to make space ?
