iPhone 16 Pro Max's screen protector keeps cracking

I put a tempered glass screen protector on my brand new Pro Max 16 and it cracked at the camera button spot within two days despite not dropping it. So I bought more screen protectors and after putting it on with the actual included black outline setting piece to keep the protector straight, I haven’t had a problem. It hasn’t cracked since. For reference, here is the case I’m currently using, and the protectors I bought. (Otterbox defender series; New’C screen protectors)

You have to get a screen protector that is compatible with that case IF there is one that does so. All cases aren’t made to use with a screen protector. That is something that has to be addressed with the maker of the case…it’s not an iPhone or Apple design issue but a case design issue. If you haven’t tried the OtterBox screen protectors that might be your best option. OtterBox Cs claims that all of their screen protector options “pair perfectly with the Defender Series case”.

Yes. Apple cases for iPhone 16 models have a Camera Capture Button. Supcase and Spigen, which you can buy on Amazon also do. I own all three and the Spigen and Subcase ones are my favorites so far.

I’m on my 5th screen protector. I’m using the genuine mag charge case with my 16 pro max. It’s cracking in the same place every time, at the bottom where the case edge protection stops. Have used 3 different types of protector but always the same place.

Never had a problem with the 12 or 14 pro max with the genuine case, only had 1 crack in around 5 years.

I’ve come to realize it’s the Apple case that’s causing my phone screen protectors to crack at the bottom. The Apple case doesn’t go along the entirety of the bottom where the charging port is, which would catch the screen protector on my pants pocket every time I pulled it out then eventually it cracked. Switch to a different case that’s full length at the bottom and haven’t had an issue yet.

I have the same case and have replaced my zagg screen protector twice now and it keeps breaking at the side button that has no protection from the case. Does that screen protector you purchased from new'c still work? I'm at a loss of how to fix this issue.

it’s a Flawed design. I’m on my eighth screensaver. I don’t like the new side opening where the camera is. Screensaver keeps breaking from there and going across the whole screen. Apple should just replace them for free because it’s a flawed design. Did anyone find a case that protects that area I bought an OtterBox thinking that would be the best but it’s still breaks with the OtterBox which now doesn’t come with a harder Belt clip cover

Fingers crossed I tried a cheap one $6.99 from target and it has not cracked like all the others. Put it on around the first of December, yeah!

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max, I’ve had it for a month and a half. I’m going on my fourth screen protector now. Every week to two weeks, I have to replace the screen protector because it cracks on the bottom and then spider cracks throughout the rest of the screen. I have the clear Apple MagSafe case. I have not dropped my phone yet either.

my husband and I both got the iPhone 16 and by the time we got home from getting them the screen protector on his broke and that night mine cracked and we have changed them every 2-3 weeks and they have never been dropped before.

2nd cracked screen protector on my iPhone 16 pro on the bottom right where the camera button is. I’ve had the phone 3mos. It also has an otter phone protector.

The first one cracked within a week of getting the phone. I waited to take it back to my service provider to replace it because of time and I have a guarantee on the protector.

I just replaced. It last less than a week and it’s cracked again, in the same exact spot and the crack looks identical to the previous crack.

Ive owned iPhones since 2011 and never seen this but from what I’ve read of others reporting online it’s a common issue.

I just purchased my 16 ProMax and within 2 weeks I have had to go and get a new screen on it- what the heck? I also purchased the case from the T-Mobile store so I am now thinking it is the case. The crack is in exact same place and I have not dropped the phone either- thank you for all your messages! Did you al resolve the problem?

I have the same problem. Small crack right by the camera button. Looks like a crush crack if that makes sense which then has tiny hairlines that go out across the screen from there. Changed 3 times. Will try an alternative protector to Jetech.

Zagg quality isn't what it used to be. I stopped using Zagg a few years ago. But it's Zagg you need to complain to. Apple has nothing to do with Zagg. I've had screen protectors on our iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max since launch day, last September, with zero issues with the screen protectors. But they're not from Zagg.

I've been through 3 screen protectors also on my 16 Pro Max with the same issue in two weeks!!
