Suspicious "Apple Security Alert" text reporting my Apple id was used at APPLE Store

Message says a suspicious charge for $143.95 has been put on hold and that I need to call an Apple Service rep at an 833 area code number. Failing to call may lead to non-reversible auto debit. I have not purchased any item for this amount. Seems like a scam. Yes or no? If yes, what should I do?

SCAM! I've gotten several of these, from "PayPal" or "Norton", claiming that I purchased some expensive item (that I didn't), and giving a "billing dispute" number to call within 24 hours. Sometimes the item was a computer … other times it was software.

There was never a purchase, or a charge to my credit card or bank account. But if I had called the "billing dispute" number, the criminals would have obtained my credit card or bank account details under the pretext of needing the information to process the "refund". Then I would have been scammed.

I got the very same text message this morning, but only on my iPhone. The text didn't show up on either of my computers. I knew it was a scam as soon as I saw it though. Didn't even have to open it first, but I was curious to see what it said. I just 😆 and shook my head. It'll get reported and deleted.

These scammers think they can pull the wool over my eyes and dupe me into handing over personal and/or secure financial info? Nope, not me. What a bunch of idiots; I've never set up, nor used, Apple Pay for anything. I don't have a Venmo account, nor use any other cash apps, bitcoins, or anything else similar, stupid scammers. I don't keep any financial info on my cellphones, for obvious reasons, including this one. All these payment types are just so, so insecure.

However, I feel so sorry for all the people around the world who are tricked by scammers with fake job offers, and then forced into making these phishing calls, texts and emails. They're hiding out in jungles and using Starlink for internet, which doesn't surprise me, considering who put Starlink satellites in the sky.
