New Magic Mouse USB-C Does Not Scroll

I received my new Magic Mouse USB-C model, running 3.1.4. The issue is that it does not scroll up or down when swiping on the surface. I tried it on 2 macbooks. The mouse does not scroll. I can click and point, but not scroll. My old magic mouse scrolls fine.

The USB-C Magic Mouse gestures do NOT work on 14.6.1 and 14.7.1. I tried both versions.

One needs to upgrade to 15.1.

But for people who cannot upgrade this is annoying.

Apple please post a work around for existing users so that older versions of MacOS will recognize the new USB-C Magic mouse gestures.

Is there configuration file one can add?

As suspected, upgrading to macOS 15 does not fix the issue of the mouse and trackpad. Having upgraded to 15 last night there is no change.

if Apple are monitoring this thread, they obviously have no work around or fix. One can only hope they are working on it and fast because as there is no use for a Magic Mouse or Trackpad, I shall return them and demand a refund and I would expect something extra for the inconvenience. That’s what I would do for my customers, give them a 15% voucher to use on their next purchase, it’s called goodwill.

I'm using 15.1 and my trackpad still won't scroll at all on Bluetooth. When it's plugged in it works perfectly.

When on Bluetooth, not only does scrolling not work, but the tracking speed is also very slow and doesn't seem to be responding to tracking speed settings changes.

I have a late 2015 iMac with the updated software of Monterey 12.7.6

I spent 2+ hours a few nights ago to get my new Magic Mouse USB-C to connect to my iMac. The bluetooth was not working - plugging it in with a cord was not working. I finally went to the System Preferences -->Mouse and it was able to find the new mouse.

Thank goodness.

Until today when I finally had a chance to sit down at my computer and realized the touch scroll does NOT work. So frustrating. I immediately reconnected my old mouse. I have never had this much issue with something Apple. I get updating, but for the price of my iMac, and the new magic mouse, I truly feel like these things should be compatible.

My op. system version. Ventura 13.4.1

As always, trusting Apple, I bought a new USB C magic mouse instead of my old mouse. I noticed that the scrolling feature does not work.

Since I use my computer for work, I cannot update it because of the risk of the applications not working. It is very, very bad that the scrolling feature does not work. I will not be able to use this mouse.

Apple should find a solution for this.!!

Planned obsolescence is a fact to be discussed on the différent thread.

what I am challenging here is that version 3.1.1 of the magic mouse works with all OS while the 3.1.4 isn t, but also :

How can Apple sell a new magic

mouse which is only compatible with the very latest 15.x MacOS without telling the consumers ?

Is this a joke? How tough can it be to send bluetooth scroll commands from a mouse to a Mac? Only recognized by newer System software? That's laughable.

I realize that I'm an outlier, but run Mojave because I rely on some 32-bit apps. My old Magic Mouse worked fine, until it eventually wore out and right-click no longer worked (8 years is a good run).

Apple - yank someone off your AI development team and assign them to making your mouse work on all OSX systems. Broken scrolling is beyond lame.

I have the same issues. My version of the OS is corporate regulated. I am quite often a month behind. However I have never had a hardware issue like this one. Brand new track pad now effectively a doorstop since no scrolling. this has to be easy to fix so?
