Error launching Minecraft Education 1.21.06 on MacOS Big Sur

I downloaded and installed Minecraft Education v1.21.06 on my MacBook Pro running MacOS Big Sur 11.1. But when I try to run it. I get a finder error saying "You do not have permission to open the application 'Minecraft Education'. Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance." Even though I am the admin and am logged onto the admin account. And a couple seconds later, a crash window opens. Here is the crash report:
