I’ve been using chrome, I have lost all ability to open, close two separate windows. I cannot get a response from the apple in upper left corner.
i can still use menu bar accross bottom of screen. How to unlock/free the locked screens?

You can try pressing Command + Option + Q, which could open the Force Quit Applications window. You can force quit Chrome then. If this doesn't work, you can also press and hold the power button to force a shutdown.
