Delete external plugin Transitions and Titles for Final Cut Pro

After editing in FCP for about an hour, editing problems begin, like frozen image or inability to add titles/transitions. I think this may be caused by external transitions/titles, which I rarely use.

How do I delete external plugin Transitions and Titles for FCP 10.8.1? I looked into FCP's Contents (see image) but can't identify which folders/files I must delete.

Third party content is not loaded inside the application. That would be a violation of developer agreements.

Mostly commonly third party plugins are in the Motion Templates of the Movies folder.

It is unlikely that these would cause the kind of problem you're seeing.

Please post an EtreCheck report https://etrecheck.com giving the application Full Disk Access in Privacy & Security Sysyytem Settings. Copy the report and use the Add Text button to paste the result into reply box.

I did not copy a project, only clips from a project in another library. Also my narration, which I created by recording it on Zoom so I could have a specific background (below) was never used in any other library, yet that large video clip does not show up unless I "Reveal in Browser". Could I solve the problem by consolidating all original and proxy media?

You can copy the way you have been, within FCP's browser from library to library.

How large is the APFS external drive? SSD or spinning disk? SSDs are recommended to be formatted as APFS and spinning disks as HFS+ MacOS Journaled.

I nearly always keep media external to the library so the library can be quite small, in the tens or hundreds of MBs. In FCP Settings/Preferences, I set Import to Leave files in place. I typically set the library's Storage Locations for media to be outside the library, in the same directory as the library. So Proxy and Optimized folders will be created there.

Also, be sure to disable Background rendering in Settings/Preferences. This can generate lots of large files that accumulate and aren't typically necessary.

I also set the cache location to be outside the library, in the same directory as the library file. This makes dumping the cache easy (be sure to quit FCP first).

Do you really need proxy and optimized media?

Under Settings/Import, leave files in place is checked, although not sure if this was checked when I first created this library. When I highlight All Video/All Clips, I see only Projects but none of the video files I imported from earlier Libraries or a big one (narration). I do see all stills (mostly from Photos) and audios that are imported voice files (some surely left in place).

Went to dinner. Think this is your last response.

I can only sort the browser by date created, that goes back to 1969, other options gayed out. I started the library Mar 27, 2023. It contains all the stills and audios, but the only videos, as you can see in the screenshot above, are my 2 projects and Artistic Tree Debut. As I said, I can make a videoclip appear in the browser by highlighting it in Timeline and clicking Reveal in Browser.

What you describe is the result of copying a project from one library to another. The media is brought over with the project, and the project has the clips that link to the media. That’s the only place the clips exist. The browser is not populated with separate copied clips. You can make clips in the browser as you by selecting a project clip and using Shift-F or Reveal in Browser.
