CarPlay TextTalk not working with new Alpine radio

I purchased a new Alpine radio for my 2017 Prius V. While trying to text I say “hey Siri text wife”, then it would repeat “what would you like to say?” But then it stops and repeats “what would you like to say” and will not allow me to say my message. So I have to cancel it. I’ve tried this by asking Siri and pushing the “text” icon.
