Apple CarPlay no longer announcing incoming calls/texts in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson

This suddenly stopped working although I had not made any changes to the car's or phone's settings. I have double-checked that all the appropriate options on my phone are in the On position. The CarPlay settings in the car are also as they should be. I even had it checked out by a Hyundai service tech. Occasionally a text will come through and instead of showing the green banner with the option to play the message or not, the message just gets read out with no option to reply. However, most texts don't come through at all.
