Why do my own PAIRED iphone and watch try to Namedrop

My own paired watch and iphone are constantly trying to activate the Namedrop feature because my watch is on my wrist and I hold my phone in my hand (crazy I know). How can I make this stop? Don't tell me to turn off airdrop/namedrop because it's a handy feature to use with others. But my own paired devices should not be trying to do that with each other. Why can't Apple fix this?

Your post caused me to try this. I found that keeping my Apple Watch on my wrist and the iPhone in the same hand did not activate NameDrop. The reason is the two were not close enough. To activate NameDrop in this manner, I had to take extraordinary pain to lessen the distance between the top of the iPhone and Apple Watch to about 3cm (one inch).

You must wear your Apple Watch in a very unusual manner.
